The Blount Leopards came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 55-15 win over Williamson on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Blount has managed all season.
Leading Blount to victory were Heaven Watlington and Donniya Torrey. Watlington scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Torrey scored 18 points along with seven steals. Watlington is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. A?Laysia Dinkins was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Blount pushed their record up to 15-10 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Williamson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blount on the road again on Friday and play against Hillcrest at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hillcrest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Blount is ranked 124th). As for Williamson, they will head out on the road to face off against Elberta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Elberta comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
