It was a good run, but the Modesto Christian Crusaders unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They received a tough blow as they fell 64-45 to Notre Dame Prep. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Modesto Christian has scored all season.
Modesto Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drevon Johnson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavin Sykes, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Modesto Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Notre Dame Prep only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Notre Dame Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Batson jr., who scored 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Batson jr. is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Quinet, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Modesto Christian's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3. As for Notre Dame Prep, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.
Modesto Christian will be playing at home against West at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Wednesday. Notre Dame Prep's road trip will continue as they head out to face Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Horizon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Notre Dame Prep is ranked fourth).
