Basketball Recap: Nic Place's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oasis Christian over Real Life Christian Academy

Oasis Christian lost against Real Life Christian Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Oasis Christian Lions took a 78-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Real Life Christian Academy Raptors. Even though they lost, the Lions' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.9 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Oasis Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nic Place, who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Place a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Justin Linares, who earned 16 points.

Real Life Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Manny Almonte led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Almonte is becoming a predictor of Real Life Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 5-2 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Donovan Sepulveda was another key player, putting up 15 points and five assists.

Oasis Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Real Life Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Oasis Christian has already played their next contest, a 67-43 victory against Innovation Montessori on the 17th. As for Real Life Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-43 loss against Merritt Island Christian on the 17th.
