Basketball Recap: Penn's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Penn waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They skirted past the Westfield Shamrocks 40-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Kingsmen have posted since November 16, 2024.

Penn was led to victory by Jessa Troy and Addison Hummel. Troy posted 16 points and four steals, while Hummel almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Troy's morning made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Westfield lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Makayla Hatcher, who put up four points. Aubrey Crockett was another key player, putting up 11 points and five assists.

Penn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points per game. As for Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Penn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-53 loss against Northridge on the 28th. As for Westfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-27 victory against Floyd Central on the 28th.
