Softball Recap: Liberty Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Liberty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Medical Lake Cardinals on Friday as they made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Lancers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jordyn Jeske made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Sadie Stout and Haylee Mitzimberg did most of the damage at the plate: Stout went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Mitzimberg went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Riley Kelley, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Liberty lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Liberty's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Medical Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Liberty will head out to take on Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Medical Lake, they will square off against Colville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The contest will give the Cardinals their first taste of in-conference action this season.
