The McQueen Lancers will take on the Lowry Buckaroos at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McQueen will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
While McQueen's win against Damonte Ranch wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lancers had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 4-2.
Chloe Jaborski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, McQueen let Ashlyn Guber and Vanessa Bein run wild. Guber scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Bein scored two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, Bein posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Fanene, who went 2-for-4 with one triple.
McQueen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, while Lowry put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Elko. The Buckaroos blew past the Indians 10-0. Considering the Buckaroos have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maite Bengochea was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Bengochea was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Kira Wiley was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Fallon Fowler was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
McQueen's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lowry, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McQueen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Lowry struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McQueen skirted past Lowry 6-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Buckaroos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
