Noah Vanmeter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 185 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 103.5 rushing yards per game.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pioneer was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 375 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Adams only rushed for 97.
Pioneer didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Eli Guffey and Shiloh Rine.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for South Putnam on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Milan out of the water with a 40-7 final score. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Pioneer better keep an eye on Drew Cline. He was instrumental in South Putnam's win, throwing for 226 yards and three TDs on only 11 passes, while also rushing for 55 yards and one score on only six carries. That's the most passing yards Cline has posted since back in September. Ty Benton helped out on the ground, rushing for 120 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Pioneer's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.9 points on average over those games. As for South Putnam, their record now sits at 12-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Pioneer has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 301.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Putnam struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 317.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
