Basketball Recap: Audrey Hilton and Aspen Larson Secure Win for Pinecrest Academy Cadence

Pinecrest Academy Cadence hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They snuck past the Chaparral Cowboys with a 48-43 win on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 29-28 back in November of 2024.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence was led to victory by Aspen Larson and Audrey Hilton. Larson went 10 for 23 en route to 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Hilton dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Larson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jazmine Davis, who posted six points.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaparral only pulled down seven offensive boards.

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trinity Leemon, who scored 14 points in addition to six boards and four blocks. Leemon has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Zamariyah Walker was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-12. As for Chaparral, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence has already played their next matchup, a 28-14 win against Cristo Rey St. Viator on the 17th. As for Chaparral, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-8 loss against Mater Academy East Las Vegas on the 17th.
