Granite Hills has gone a perfect 3-0 against Point Loma recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Pointers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Monday. Granite Hills came out on top against Olympian by a score of 8-3. The victory was some much needed relief for Granite Hills as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Allie Amison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Taylor Nash was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Jazlyn Thomas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Granite Hills hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Point Loma, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past San Marcos 12-4 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pointers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Point Loma also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ella Poulin gave up four earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. Poulin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Point Loma got a massive performance out of Siena Balistreri, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Kendall Vickers was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Granite Hills' record is now 4-8. As for Point Loma, their record now sits at 10-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Granite Hills hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Point Loma struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Granite Hills' way against Point Loma in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Granite Hills made off with a 13-7 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Pointers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
