The Carter-Riverside Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 36-14 defeat at the hands of Eastern Hills. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carter-Riverside in their matchups with Eastern Hills: they've now lost eight in a row.
Loss or not, Carter-Riverside got some senior leadership from Kentrell Parkman who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns and Jameer Muhammad who gained 181 total yards. Parkman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
Eastern Hills had a senior duo take command as Kenwaun Durst rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries and Kentwan Bonham rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Carter-Riverside's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 Dunbar and 6-2 Lake Worth (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Eastern Hills, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.
Carter-Riverside will challenge Diamond Hill-Jarvis at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Diamond Hill-Jarvis comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Eastern Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Castleberry at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th.
