Cox hasn't had much luck against First Colonial recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. Cox is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Cox is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since May 1, 2025 on Tuesday. They skirted past Bayside 8-6. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Marlins recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Chyann Obiedo was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Kriz, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Cox always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, First Colonial was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to Ocean Lakes. The Patriots have struggled against the Dolphins recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
First Colonial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maura Haesler, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Haesler has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.
Cox's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for First Colonial, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
First Colonial's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cox has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. It's a different story for First Colonial, though, as they've only averaged .346. Will they be able to contain Cox's hitters?
Cox got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against First Colonial by a conclusive 10-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
