Economedes hasn't had much luck against Edinburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jaguars will take on the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Economedes will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Economedes is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Pharr-San Juan-Alamo: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Jaguars blew the Bears out of the water with a 52-3 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.

Johan Nunez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Carlos Garcia was in the mix as well, providing Economedes with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Economedes was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 286 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Economedes didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mark Chavira. He is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another thorn in Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's side was Josiah Villarreal, who picked up three sacks and made five total tackles.
Meanwhile, Edinburg got the win against La Joya on Friday by a conclusive 33-9. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Coyotes: they've now won five in a row.
Edinburg's win came from a few key players Economedes will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aidden Sanchez, who threw for 152 yards and two TDs.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Edinburg, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Isaiah Cisneros, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Economedes' record now sits at 7-0. As for Edinburg, their record is now 5-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Economedes has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 488.7 total yards per game. It's a different story for Edinburg, though, as they've been averaging only 246.4 total yards. Will Economedes be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Bobcats flip the script?
Economedes came up short against Edinburg when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 24-17. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
