4A Region 2 recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A Region 2 this week, Charles Henderson beat Eufaula 59-42. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
St. James took down Montgomery Catholic 48-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. Frank Moody ran for 394 yards in the win.
Moody was a force in the backfield as the Trojans topped the Knights.
Chandler Taylor threw for 333 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 19-40 with 2 interceptions.
Selmar Russell was a key player and the best on defense this week as Alabama Christian Academy fell to Holtville. The 6-foot-0 sophomore racked up 1 sack.
Taylor put up the best numbers through the air as the Eagles lost to the Bulldogs. Taylor's favorite target this week was Ethan Anderson, who caught 8 passes for 183 yards.
Alabama Christian Academy's Taylor and Hudson Pugh led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Taylor has thrown for 2,850 yards this season, while Pugh has 33 catches for 750 yards. Moody from St. James leads the league in rushing with 1,740 yards.
D. J. Rivers of the Tallassee is just 68 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Rivers has rushed for 932 yards on 77 carries so far this year.
Headland made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,904 from 8,645. The improvement was the result of a 34-12 victory over Abbeville last week.
