Norton is 9-0 against the Red Devils since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Norton Bluejays will be playing at home against the Decatur Community Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Norton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Plainville 76-53.
Norton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Eli Jones, who scored 22 points along with two steals, and Roman Hauser, who dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hauser has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rylen Murray, who scored 13 points.
Even though Decatur Community has not done well against the Jackrabbits recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Decatur Community strolled past the Jackrabbits with points to spare, taking the game 52-37. The win was just what Decatur Community needed coming off of a 68-23 defeat in their prior contest.
Decatur Community's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Ostmeyer, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Davin Jensen, who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals.
Norton's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Decatur Community, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Norton have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Decatur Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Norton against the Red Devils when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 53-18 victory. Does Norton have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
