On Monday, everything went Holmes County's way against Destin as Holmes County made off with a 12-4 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won four matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Bri Adams made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Adams was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-5.
In other pitching news, Savannah Ludwig looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacee Bowers, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kiersten Womble, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Holmes County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Wakulla waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Bulls by a score of 13-8.
Wakulla let Parker Stubbs and Cylie Long run wild. Stubbs scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Long got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI. Alexis Nichols was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Wakulla's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Holmes County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Holmes County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it's not like Wakulla struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
