This season hasn't been kind to the Whitmire Wolverines, who are still winless after their 13th match. Their tough 53-29 loss to Dixie on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Whitmire has suffered since December 11, 2023.
Despite the loss, Whitmire still got an impressive performance from Brooklynn Babb, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Babb continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Raylin Vicars, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Whitmire struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Dixie posted ten assists.
Jaylia Turner was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 14 steals for Dixie. That makes it six consecutive games in which Turner has scored at least a third of Dixie's points. Kerri O'Shields was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Whitmire bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Dixie, their win ended a 11-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind the next time they take the court. Dixie will head out to face South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Whitmire will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
