Landmark Christian extended the longest winning streak in A Region 5 this week by beating Our Lady of Mercy, 17-13. The win marks sixth in a row for the the War Eagles.
Landmark Christian and the Bobcats played the most contested game in the league this week, with Landmark Christian eventually emerging with a 17-13 victory.
Pace Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kevin Johnson threw for 209 and 4 touchdowns and Kameron Uter had 80 yards receiving. On the ground Malik Staples contributed 74 yards. Denzel Franklin helped Pace Academy's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 64 yards.
Staples was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 8 carries, he ran for 74 yards as the Knights defeated Strong Rock Christian. Johnson also contributed to the rushing game with 25 yards on the ground.
Pace Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 1,158 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while Uter has 39 catches for 423 yards.
A big matchup in A Region 5 this week will be when Strong Rock Christian takes on Wayne Brantley's team. As it stands, Strong Rock Christian is in fifth, while the War Eagles are in first.
Holy Innocents Episcopal led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Mount Vernon Presbyterian.
