Bradley Central has gone 9-1 against Ooltewah recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Owls at 4:00 p.m. Bradley Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Bradley Central didn't have quite enough to beat East Hamilton and fell 4-3.
Gracie Ownby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Bradley Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lynlee Hodge, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
11 must be Ooltewah's lucky number: they beat Notre Dame with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Owls put the hurt on the Fighting Irish with a sharp 11-1 win. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.
Ooltewah also let their pitcher toss all four innings played and she was also dialed-in: Emmerson Reed gave up only one earned run on three hits.
On the hitting side, Addilyn Watts and Kaylin Leblanc did most of the damage at the plate: Watts scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Leblanc went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. Jaeda Tucker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Ooltewah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Ooltewah has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Bradley Central, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-12-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Bradley Central hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ooltewah struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Bradley Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Ooltewah in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 9-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
