The Jefferson Saints had to endure a 12-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Englewood 75-57 on Tuesday. Jefferson's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Antonio Lynch continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 32 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Timothy Gomez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Englewood saw an underclassman step up: Soren Singer almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals. Singer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Singer, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Englewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Jefferson's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14. As for Englewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
Jefferson will head out on the road to take on Bruce Randolph at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson is coming into the game with four straight victories on the road, so Bruce Randolph is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Englewood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arrupe Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arrupe Jesuit will be up against Englewood's rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.31 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing.
