The Bishop Ryan Lions can finally bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They secured a 64-59 W over Westhope/Newburg. Bishop Ryan's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Westhope/Newburg's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kimberly Tabarez, who scored ten points along with six assists and six steals. The contest was Tabarez's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Macy Bryans, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Even though they lost, Westhope/Newburg were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Bishop Ryan's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-5. As for Westhope/Newburg, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
Bishop Ryan will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against St. John at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. St. John is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. Westhope/Newburg will be home for the holidays to greet Surrey at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Surrey and Westhope/Newburg are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
