The Leyton Warriors's four-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Peetz and snuck past 55-52. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Leyton considering their 25-point performance the match before.
Leyton can attribute much of their success to Jonathan Kruse, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kruse has scored at least 25% of Leyton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Watchorn, who scored nine points.
Loss or not, Peetz got some senior leadership from Chance Seglke who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists and Noah Naegele who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Seglke pulled down eight or more rebounds. Aaron Bernhardt was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Leyton's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-2. As for Peetz, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leyton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South Platte at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. South Platte is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Peetz, they will head out on the road to face off against Banner County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Banner County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 247th in Nebraska, while Peetz is ranked 72nd in Colorado).
