After a string of five wins, the Mountain View Bruins's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Layton by a score of 74-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (61), Mountain View still had to take the loss.
Several Bruins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Conner Fairbanks, who scored 26 points. The matchup was Fairbanks' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Bryce Mella was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Mountain View were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Layton, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Mountain View and Hillcrest will face off at 1:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Layton is on the road again on January 5, 2024 and play against Skyridge at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
