Lincoln-Way West has gone a perfect 5-0 against Oak Forest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Warriors will welcome the Bengals at 11:00 a.m. Lincoln-Way West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Lincoln-Way West gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Sandburg by a score of 4-1.
Nolan Ballantine was excellent, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Oak Forest got themselves on the board against Evergreen Park on Thursday, but Evergreen Park never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bengals, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Justin Gibbs made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Oak Forest got a big performance out of Ashton Janowski, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Evan Gamboa, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Oak Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Oak Forest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Lincoln-Way West, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.
Both Lincoln-Way West and Oak Forest just can't seem to miss. The Warriors have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Oak Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lincoln-Way West was able to grind out a solid victory over Oak Forest in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bengals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
