Fabens hasn't had much luck against San Elizario recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Fabens has given up an average of 16.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Fabens is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Clint, falling 19-6.
Alexssa Gallegos was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, San Elizario came tearing into Tuesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lobos a 16-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Vivian Salcedo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Caylee Venegas, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
San Elizario kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only managed three hits.
San Elizario pushed their record up to 13-17-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fabens, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fabens hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. However, it's not like San Elizario struggles in that department as they've averaged .383. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fabens might still be hurting after the 21-2 defeat they got from San Elizario in their previous matchup last Monday. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
