Softball Recap: Hillcrest Has No Trouble Against Madison

Hillcrest barely beat Madison the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Bobcats on Wednesday. Considering the Knights have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mya Weatherly was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenna Wallis, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Hillcrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Hillcrest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Madison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Hillcrest will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Shelley at 3:30 p.m. on the 31st. As for Madison, they will be taking part in a tournament against Kuna at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The last three games the Kavemen have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
