Winters and Woodland Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Winters Warriors are on the road again on Wednesday and play against the Woodland Christian Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Winters got the win against Woodland by a conclusive 65-41. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Winters has managed all season.
Woodland Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Forest Lake Christian 76-22 at home. The win was just what Woodland Christian needed coming off of a 56-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Woodland Christian found their leader in underclassman Romello Bruhn, who scored 21 points along with five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bruhn has scored at least 25% of Woodland Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Haines, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Winters' win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Woodland Christian, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Things could have been worse for Winters, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-46 loss to Woodland Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Winters avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
