McQueen and Douglas are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The McQueen Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Douglas Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McQueen is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, McQueen came up short against Reno and fell 48-39.
Despite their defeat, McQueen saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Caitlin Hilson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Hilson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Camilla Carlson, who scored 11 points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Douglas gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 63-29 win over Carson at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Douglas had established a 29 point advantage.
Mckenzie Main went supernova for Douglas, scoring 19 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Main has scored all season. Logan Karwoski was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
McQueen has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Douglas, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: McQueen have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Douglas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
McQueen might still be hurting after the 51-30 defeat they got from Douglas when the teams last played back in January. Can McQueen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
