The Central Cobras''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to Martin County on the road by a decisive 41-27 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central in their matchups with Martin County: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Cobras players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Lamattina, who threw for 267 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 68 receiving yards. Lamattina was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 68 yards. Jemar Paul also helped out as he racked up 129 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Martin County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tony Colebrook, who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Jackson Williams also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Martin County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Central will head out on the road to face off against Sebring at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sebring is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Martin County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jensen Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jensen Beach is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
