Moriah hasn't had much luck against Plattsburgh recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Moriah was handed a 22-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lake Placid 6-5.
Sadie Sargent made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Sargent was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Courtright, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Sophia Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plattsburgh). They blew past AuSable Valley 16-6 on Tuesday. The Hornets not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2025 (when they won 18-6).
Marlie Walker was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Olivia LaMountain also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Plattsburgh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Plattsburgh's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Moriah, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Moriah might still be hurting after the 34-3 loss they got from Plattsburgh in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
