The Bothell Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Issaquah Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Bothell barely beat Lake Washington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Kangaroos on Wednesday. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Addison Hall tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kirsten Mahlen was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Kolbi Schmer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.
Meanwhile, Issaquah came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Sadie Huryn (2025), who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Abby Cleveland (2026) also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Issaquah always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only posted an OBP of .250.
Issaquah pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bothell, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Bothell suffered a grim 20-3 defeat to Issaquah when the teams last played back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
