The Leto Falcons will face off against the Brandon Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Leto will be strutting in after a victory while Brandon will be coming in after a defeat.
Leto will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Thursday, then bounced right back against Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate on Thursday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Phoenix with a sharp 16-2 win. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Phoenix recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Alex Hernandez Valdes was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Valerio, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Leto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Brandon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Plant, falling 12-1. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 11 runs.
Brandon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicolas Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Brandon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Leto, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Brandon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Leto has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. It's a different story for Brandon, though, as they've only averaged .274. Will they be able to contain Leto's hitters?
Leto beat Brandon 9-4 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
