The Victoria East Titans will square off against the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Victoria East rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 35-13 margin over Medina Valley. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Victoria East had established a 21 point advantage.
Victoria East got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaden Williams out in front who rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown. Nijahrell Prater was in the mix too, providing Victoria East with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Donna 45-7 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-7.
Alejandro Aparicio was a one-man wrecking crew for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North as he rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Aparicio's longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards. Jaden Fuentes was another key contributor, gaining 109 total yards and a touchdown.
Victoria East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
