After a string of nine wins, the Scott Skyhawks's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Nitro 28-24. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Scott came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Nitro is ranked 42nd).
Despite the loss, Scott still got an impressive performance from Preston Cooper, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown. Carson Brinegar also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
It was another big night for Josh Moody, who threw for 270 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Littlejohn, who gained 140 total yards.
Scott's loss dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Nitro, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Scott will be playing in front of their home fans against Nitro at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Moody and Matt Frye. As for Nitro, they will head out on the road to face off against Scott at 1:30 p.m. Scott will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
