Baseball Recap: Northeast Takes a Loss

Northeast had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-10 to make it four. They fell 9-5 to Central Heights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Central Heights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Thursday.

Spencer Wade was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Northeast: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 8-9 otherwise. Hayden Baker also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Central Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

On Central Heights' side, Stetson Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Miller has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kreig Garrett, who went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kord Stroup, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast will host Riverton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Heights, they will challenge Lyndon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
