The Oakley Plainsmen entered their tilt with the Ellis Railroaders with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Oakley skirted past Ellis 46-43. For Oakley, this counts as revenge for the 51-42 defeat Ellis walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Oakley was led to victory by Emma Mandeville and Jade Beckman. Mandeville scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Beckman dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Beckman is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Daysha Allison, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Oakley pushed their record up to 11-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Ellis, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakley will square off against Quinter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Oakley is ranked 136th, while Quinter is ranked 114th). As for Ellis, they will head out on the road to face off against Hoxie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ellis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Hoxie is ranked sixth).
