The Ottoville Big Green will be taking part in a tournament against the Ayersville Pilots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ayersville took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ottoville, who comes in off a win.
Ottoville not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 11th (when they won 3-0). Everything went their way against Continental as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Big Green.
Ottoville not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Continental between 15 and 16 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-15, 25-16.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Ayersville and Wayne Trace have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Pilots fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 3-2. While the Pilots didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-17 in the first set.
Ayersville was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Wayne Trace work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-11, 20-25, 26-24, 15-12.
Ottoville will have to contain Makayla Sierra as she made an impact in Ayersville's last game. She had 38 digs and three assists. Sierra has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Sigler, who had 16 assists and ten digs.
Ayersville's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Ottoville, their win bumped their record up to an identical 14-8.
Ottoville came up short against Ayersville in their previous meeting back in August, falling 3-1. Can the Big Green avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
