Despite the loss, Moffat had strong showings from Kandra Pollard, who posted ten points and seven steals, and Shauna Pollard, who had ten points along with six steals and five rebounds. Kandra is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Antonito). They blew past Lake City Community 44-23 on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Antonito's win came from a few key players Moffat will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Destanaya Quintana, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards. Kim Sisneros was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.
Antonito smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.
Antonito's record now sits at 4-14. As for Moffat, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Moffat has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Antonito struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Moffat against Antonito when the teams last played on February 7th, as the squad secured a 40-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moffat since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
