On Wednesday, Liberty was the victim of a tough 60-35 loss at the hands of the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Mustangs are ranked 87th).
Ellie Friesen was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists for Meridian. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Friesen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nora Stufft, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Liberty and nudges their season record down to 1-15. As for Meridian, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Liberty will head out on the road to challenge the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Meridian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pride at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Heritage is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
