Even though the Rivercrest Colts have not done well against the Corning Bobcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Rivercrest walked away with a 64-53 win over Corning. The victory was nothing new for Rivercrest as they're now sitting on three straight.
Mykayla Banks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakiyah Brownlee, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks.
Rivercrest's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Corning, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rivercrest will square off against Harrisburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arkansas (Harrisburg is ranked 139th, while Rivercrest is ranked 125th). As for Corning, Corning and Piggott will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Piggott has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
