The Sullivan Eagles will square off against the St. Clair Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sullivan will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Sullivan had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Cuba on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wildcats.
The final score came out to 25-11, 25-17, 25-13.
Among those leading the charge was Ava Todd, who had 14 assists and seven digs.
Sullivan was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, St. Clair made easy work of Owensville on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
Sullivan better keep an eye on Lindsay Rampani. She was instrumental in St. Clair's win, getting 20 digs and one assist. Rampani has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 20 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Martin, who had 11 digs and two aces.
Sullivan's win bumped their record up to 18-9-4. As for St. Clair, their victory bumped their record up to 16-13-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Sullivan has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7 aces per game. However, it's not like St. Clair struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sullivan was able to grind out a solid win over St. Clair when the teams last played back in September, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
