The Mount Dora Hurricanes are taking a road trip to take on the Bishop Moore Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Mount Dora narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lake Weir 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mount Dora.

Not much got past ADDISON GANUS, who gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Lake Weir off the board. GANUS has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mount Dora's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was KALEIGH CASEY, who went 2-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, Bishop Moore waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Barracudas 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Riley Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Ariana Lara was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carolina Rusnik, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Bishop Moore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Smyrna Beach only posted an OBP of .292.
Mount Dora's record now sits at 7-8. As for Bishop Moore, their record is now 9-12.
Mount Dora suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Bishop Moore in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. Can the Hurricanes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
