The Freeport Pretzels will challenge the Belvidere North Blue Thunder at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Freeport is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Things were looking good for Freeport after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Jefferson by a score of 8-7.
Hannah Stott and Madison Davison did some serious damage despite the final result: Stott went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Davison went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Davison has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Krzeminiski, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Belvidere North posted their closest victory since March 28th on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over Harlem. The Blue Thunder haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Ava Morris made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Morris was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabelle Schadle, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hallie Inman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Belvidere North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harlem only managed nine hits.
Belvidere North's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Freeport, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Freeport suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Belvidere North in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Pretzels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
