After six games on the road, Valor Christian is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Pine Creek Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valor Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Pine Creek likes a good challenge.
Valor Christian pushed their score all the way to 72 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Regis Jesuit 78-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (67), Valor Christian still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Rylie Beers, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Quinn Vansickle was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pine Creek scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 66-23 win over Ponderosa. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Pine Creek has managed all season.
Pine Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Leekaya Burke-perryman, who scored 19 points along with six assists and three steals, and Brooklyn Stewart, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Stewart has scored at least 25% of Pine Creek's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenna Hallam, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Valor Christian's defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Pine Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Valor Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 65.2 points per game. It's a different story for Pine Creek, though, as they've been averaging only 54.8 points per game. The only thing between Valor Christian and another offensive beatdown is Pine Creek. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Valor Christian against Pine Creek in their previous matchup back in January of 2020 as the team secured a 62-26 win. With Valor Christian ahead 38-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
