Olympus are taking a road trip to take on Syracuse at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Olympus has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Olympus' last matchup with Bountiful could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Titans lost 15-6 to the Redhawks. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Allisson Robles was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Stern, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Syracuse, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Payson by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday.
Abby Jensen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Syracuse let Oaklee Derrickson and Paizlee Prathan run wild. Derrickson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Prathan went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Prathan is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played.
Syracuse hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive games.
The win was their first at home, bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Olympus, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Olympus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .421. However, it's not like Syracuse struggles in that department as they've averaged .423. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Olympus might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Syracuse when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Olympus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
