After flying high against the University Christian Barracudas last Friday, the Queen's Grant Stallions came back down to earth. Queen's Grant took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sun Valley on Tuesday.
When it comes to explaining why Queen's Grant lost, one person who can't be blamed is Garrett Morgan. Despite the final result, he scored 34 points along with six rebounds. The match was Morgan's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Jaylan Mack was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five steals.
Sun Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Tavares, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Calhoun, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Queen's Grant has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Sun Valley, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Queen's Grant won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Charlotte Lab School at 5:30 p.m. on December 13th. Sun Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Hickory Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hickory Ridge is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
