The Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 56-51 W over St. John's Catholic Prep. This was payback for Chapelgate Christian Academy, who suffered a 71-70 loss the last time these two teams met.
Chapelgate Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Julian Sabbat out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sabbat has scored at least a third of Chapelgate Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Bishop, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Chapelgate Christian Academy pushed their record up to 14-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapelgate Christian Academy has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Greater Grace Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th. Hopefully Chapelgate Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Concordia Prep at 6:30 p.m.
