The Lake Worth Christian Defenders are taking a road trip to take on the Leonard Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Worth Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Lake Worth Christian made easy work of Palm Beach Lakes and carried off a 16-4 victory. The Defenders haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Mia Kruspe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Lake Worth Christian is undefeated when Kruspe posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Teegan Summerill, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Lake Worth Christian's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kevin Ambroise, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Leonard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They came up short against Dr. Joaquin Garcia, falling 10-3.
Shawn Lopez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Samuel Nunez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Leonard's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Lake Worth Christian, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lake Worth Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Leonard struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lake Worth Christian couldn't quite finish off Leonard in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can the Defenders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
