It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Crisp County Cougars can now relate to. They suffered a rough 42-20 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs on Friday. Crisp County's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Although Crisp County took the loss, they still got scores from Kevon Merrell, Hakeem Holmes, and Cayden Daniels.
Duke Watson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 238 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.5 yards per carry for Mary Persons. Watson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Another player making a difference was Christian Stewart, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Crisp County's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Mary Persons, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 11-1 record.
Crisp County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mary Persons will take on Cedar Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Cedar Grove is ranked 39th, while Mary Persons is ranked 57th).
