Cibola is 2-0 against Westview since September of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. After each having a week off, both teams will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. Cibola is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Cibola fell victim to West Point's stalwart defense two weeks ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Dragons at home and fell 35-0.
Meanwhile, Westview pushed their score all the way to 34 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 49-34 to Paradise Valley.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Nathan Franklin, who rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Jayden Patterson was another key contributor, throwing for 209 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes.
Even if they lost, Westview's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Carter Forsberg and his two sacks.
The losses dropped Cibola to 0-7 and Westview to 3-4.
Cibola was able to grind out a solid win over Westview when the teams last played back in October of 2022, winning 25-15. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cibola since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
