After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southwest SD, the Kearny Komets were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Classical Academy by a score of 64-54. With that win, Kearny brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kearny to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charles Thomas, who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Ackerman, who scored 15 points along with 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Issac Davis, who scored 27 points. The match was Davis' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jasper Kim was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Kearny now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Classical Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Kearny will be playing at home against Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Sweetwater's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Classical Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Army-Navy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
